Why are Pet Nail Clippers so important?

Why are Pet Nail Clippers so important?

Well for starters, some of us have experienced the intense pain associated with cutting our cuticle beds. Nail Beds in pets are one of the most delicate grooming aspects that many of us need to take proper caution when cutting. Dogs and Cats are prone to constant bleeding if their delicate toe nails aren't cut properly since their blood vessels are located beneath their nails and if you've ever had a bad experience it's important we're more careful and pay close attention and focus.

If you ever experience this issue it's extremely important to remain as calm as possible since pets can detect stress and that's the last thing they need, sometimes it helps to provide them their favorite snack or treat to help alleviate such nerves before you go to work. In the event of such emergency, for many of us we don't have time to head on over to the nearest vet and fortunately there are ways to remediate the problem and stop the bleeding.

Styptic powder is a special type of substance that features Benzocaine which is a specially designed anesthetic with numbing properties to help ease the pain. Numerous veterinarians are equipped with such powder especially in emergency room situations associated with loss of blood. Furthermore, powder is designed to help absorb moisture and provide a dual-healing effect. For many of us that don't have access to Styptic powder there are numerous home remedies that might work to help do the trick. It's important to rinse their paws in water and head for the Corn Starch in your pantry cabinet. Corn starch is a very fine powder that's designed to take in lots of moisture while helping stop the bleeding. While Baking Soda and Flour help do the trick it's best to use an application that's heavier in nature to help stop the bleeding momentarily. As bleeding begins to slow down it's important to immediately rinse their paws down and apply a cold compress to the area. One may also cut off a piece of a bandage or band aid once bleeding subsides to further help stop the bleeding. After all this it's important to keep your cat or dog off their feet for approximately 45 minutes to ensure their blood cells have properly healed the area.

To avoid this mess their are many preventative tips that'll make cutting their nails something they'll look forward to rather dreading. Making sure they're comfortable and devoid of such experiences is one way to start but for pets that have had a bad experience like such in the past it's important to always reward them both during and after cutting their nails. If there's something with you during this task try having them assist in calming by stroking or massaging their hair or belly areas as that certainly helps.

Nail Grooming is so important and for many reasons. First and foremost and as pet owners scratching is not pleasant plus nails are known to do damage of furniture and if sharp enough can tear through our sofas therefore it's best to make sure their nails are both cut and filed at all times. Sometimes it's beneficial to use a flashlight or a dog nail clipper with a built-in LED light that's designed to illuminate their delicate nail beds so we know where we're cutting. Uncut nails are also very unpleasant, uncomfortable and painful to pets when overgrown. Overgrown nails can effect the way they walk and lead to joint discomfort among other issues such as tearing of their nail beds which can lead to an emergency room visit.

With proper care you can totally avoid these problems. Always make sure to read up where and how to properly cut their nails especially if you're a new pet owner!
